MEDIMAIL is specially designed for handling and transporting small amounts of infectious samples by courier or similar services. This system meets all regulatory requirements, especially the one forcing it to withstand an internal pressure of 95 kPa and maintain tightness.
MEDIMAIL has undergone numerous tests conducted by accredited bodies which certify that our system complies with current regulations and manages to minimize the risk that infectious samples may have on the environment.
To minimize this risk and ensure compliance with Packing Instruction P650, the below mentioned instructions should be followed during handling and transport:
1. Put the Category B Infectious Substances into leakproof primary receptacles.
2. Put each primary receptacle inside absorbent rack and use Velcro closure.
3. Put the absorbent rack inside the chosen secondary packaging.
------ If you choose the 95kPa pressure bag, ensure you remove the "protective film" and you fold it in half using the black lines, making them match on both sides; the surface must be completely closed, without wrinkles. If necessary, put the sample information inside a ziploc bag and insert everything inside the outer packaging. To open an already sealed bag, pull upwards from the incisions made on the basis, no need to use either sharps or cutting tools. ------
----- If you choose 95kPa pressure canister, screw the cap on until it is completely closed. Then put it inside the outer packaging, in the hollow left by the foam, avoiding movement, and along with the necessary documentation. ------
4. Close the outer packaging and ensure that it is tightly closed. Fill in the gaps appropriately with the sending details.
5. Finally, place the secure tape so that it seals and remains attached to the main package and to the cap of the outer packaging. From then on, you are prepared to transport the Category B samples safely.
VERY IMPORTANT. - When sending make sure that the identifying symbols “UN3373” and "Category B Biological Material" are clearly visible. Please, do not allow bagging to hide these symbols.
